INFORMATION
The velomobile Milan (SL and GT) was built in 2005 by Eggert Bülk and Jens Buckbesch for racing events and record drives. Since then, this velomobile has set a number of world records.
To this day, this record bike has been continuously improved and optimized for everyday use. Weight, stiffness, comfort and features that improve everyday use are continuously optimized. Velomobile World acquired the rights to this vehicle in 2020 and is now continuously developing, producing and selling the Milan.
With its CW value of 0.1, the Milan is aerodynamically at the top. That is why you only need around 160 watts of pedal power for a speed of 50 km/h. This creates an enormous daily range. In 2010 Christian von Ascheberg drove a distance of 1219 km with the Milan in 24 hours, a world record for velomobile to this day. Only with muscle power.
Also leading in top speed: Bill Thornton (58 years old) drove an average of 97.96 km/h in Battle Mountain in the 200 m sprint with the Milan in 2019. World record for velomobiles to date. Only with muscle power.
Whether as a commuter vehicle, a holiday velomobile or a year-round sports device: with the Milan you fly towards your destination and it is often difficult not to get the grin off your face …

Besides the excellent aerodynamics, what is special about the Milan velomobile?
1) Driving fun: The flat seat angle in the Milan distributes your body weight over a large area. The head can also be rested relaxed on its support surface. So you can be on the move comfortably for a long time without pressure points or muscle compression.
2) Safety: The aerodynamic design of the Milan is optimized for minimal sensitivity to cross winds. Lateral buoyancy components are disturbed by the special design. The center of gravity is close to the pressure point and thus prevents a sideways position due to squalls. So you can stay on track even in storms and gusts.
3) Lightweight: The vehicle weighs around 24 kg, depending on the equipment. This means that the Milan is at the forefront of lightweight construction. At the same time, the Milan concept dispenses with the use of extreme lightweight construction for all safety-relevant components. All safety-relevant components are oversized, designed very conservatively and are only used after years of experience.
4) View: Due to the minimized cross-sectional area at the front, the driver has an excellent view of the road ahead and can quickly recognize obstacles.
5) Safety again: The flat seat inclination and the coaming edge of the vehicle that covers the driver’s shoulders effectively prevents the head and upper body from being thrown forward in the event of a frontal collision and thus prevents injuries, for example from impact with the front coaming edge. Even in the event of a side roll, the driver remains in his safety cell and is protected by the high rollover protection of the headgear. The driver’s seat prevents injuries in rear-end collisions with its sturdy safety bars on the back and its special support. All safety-relevant surfaces are secured against splinters with safety fabric.
6) Weatherproof all year round: Since the Battle Mountain hood was developed, the Milan has also been top in terms of rainproof ness: standard Naca air inlet with regulation and automatic water drainage to the outside ensure enough air without getting wet. Never fear bad weather again: You can drive all year round and maintain and build up your vitality.
7) Easy to get in and out of: the oversized entrance and the low-lying coaming edge make getting in and out child’s play. You can still get on and off in 20 years. With the Milan, you don’t have to put the lid down to get out. You can open the lid (or combi hood) at any time using the hinge and get out immediately.
8) Cabrio fun: No velomobile has such a big entry point as the Milan. This enables a convertible feeling in a class of its own.
9) Driving pleasure: If the vehicle is properly adjusted for you as the driver, we promise unlimited driving pleasure. You can only convince yourself of this on a test drive.

Developments and prospects
1) Foam-carbon combi hood „Yin and Yang”: For those who drive head-outside or drive as a couple and want to chat in comfort, the foam combi hood will soon be available as additional equipment. Both can be easily put together and simply stow in the vehicle. For unadulterated convertible pleasure:

2) New seats: Jens is working on a range of new kite seats that can accommodate different driver sizes and spine types. As the driver’s largest contact area, the seat has an enormous influence on comfort and driving pleasure.
3) SAS technology (save and service): All components and parts are continuously revised with regard to increased safety, service friendliness and longer service life of wearing parts. Service should become easier and easier for the driver himself and also for the dealer.
