Addendum to yesterday
I can be proud of my wife for what she managed to do and how she held on throughout the day. She constantly rode away from me yesterday. Then she asked me why I always let go like that. I said, we've been riding almost constantly uphill since this morning. At some point the eye gets used to it and you don't notice it any more. The speed alone shows it. It was really hard to keep up. Yesterday we did 1500 metres again, today under difficult conditions.
Today
Arrived late, therefore short. 9 degrees in the morning. Started in the clouds. Long downhill through several tunnels. I don't want to go uphill with the velomobile. Gradient 4-8% and the tunnels are sometimes 2 kilometres long. The cycle path, the old road, was closed due to a landslide.
Most of the way down to Eidfjord.
In the village there is a big ship. Perverse contrast.
To Ulvik. Over the mountain to the next fjord. It was totally worth it. We met the tour group on the way. Probably Americans with rental bikes on a day trip.
In fact, over 1200 metres of ascent with over 1900 metres of descent. A roller coaster feeling in places. We thought it would be flat on the fjord. Not so. Often with 7-9% up to 100 m and down again. The peaks look so small in comparison. It was enough in any case.
Sometimes there was drizzle. But mostly it was dry.
Rented Hytta again today.
