Day 3 | 149 KM | 297 HM
Today we started a little later, because we had a leisurely breakfast with Doris and Carsten. Around 9:30 am we finally started. We had an invitation for coffee with Axel Herfurth, the Velomobile dealer in Schleswig-Holstein. After about 50 km we reached him. There was an emergency visitor there who had lost his service cover from the Bülk on the way to Denmark. We chatted a bit with a cappuccino and then set off again, as the next customer was already at the yard.
After about another 30 km, we passed the border to Denmark at Flensburg.
After a few kilometres it became very quiet and we drove mostly straight north with little traffic. The wind was from the west, which made the velomobile go a bit faster like a sailboat. Due to all our visits in the last two days, we were a bit tired after all, lacking some sleep from all the talking. The route now here in Denmark offers little variety, which increased the desire to go to bed earlier. According to Google, a campsite within a reasonable distance on our route was in Vojens. There we picked up a few things for dinner. The city is a bit run down and had seen better days. There was nothing going on at the campsite and everything was empty. Hopefully we could stay here today, we thought. We didn't really feel like driving on again. A neighbour of the campsite told us that the campsite was open and that we could use the showers, toilets and kitchen. He was very interested in the velomobiles and had never seen any before. As a triathlete, he was particularly interested in how fast you could go on them and whether you had pain when sitting. After I explained it to him, he became even more interested. Especially if you don't have any pain at all.
