Day 28 | Nesna - Furøy | 142 KM | 1279 HM
In the morning it was still quite fresh. The wind made it feel like it was in the single digits. I chose a long-sleeved T-shirt for the first time. Bought some bread and two muffins for the road. The shops are relatively rare here.
What weather we have. We drive 25 km in on one side of the fjord. We have a higher climb of 350 m, down again and at the end 25 km back on the other side of the fjord. The Canadian had warned us about this. With his folding bike plus hanging suitcase, the longer climb was certainly tedious.
Lunch break at the Joker at a strategically important road junction. There we get coffee and have a bench and table in the sun.
Continue below these mountains, rounded by glaciers.
Today there were longer tunnels. 2x 2800 m and 1x 3000 m. At the second one I looked at my watch. It took us 7 minutes with some uphill. The tunnel to the North Cape is supposed to be 10 km long. So it takes about 20-30 minutes. When hardly any cars come, it's like an eternity. Here a cyclist is coming towards us.
The last island is dotted with imposing mountains. You have to climb up and down a bit.
Then there was the last tunnel. I had already suspected it, because we went straight into the end of the valley. In the tunnel, 3 km almost dead straight. Very surreal in there. Then we see daylight at the end of the tunnel.
Fascinating what variety grows along the roadsides here.
This island is also crossed at some point and we cross the sea again. Straight onto the ferry to Furøy.
We could already see the camping site on the other side. Quick shopping in the next town, drive to the campsite, pitch the tent, shower, cook, eat.
