Hi, it's Jan from VelomobileWorld.com and we gonna make nice maintenance videos about the Alpha models, let's see how we do it.
In the today's video I wanna show you how to take this footplate off. In the beginning these footplates were from stainless steel and that one had tendency to get some small cracks here and that's of course is not a great idea to drive around like this, so please change them, I don't have one like this, but I show you just how to do it. So yeah, it's relatively easy. Take off these 4 screws. So the last screw...
So if you replace this part make sure this is clean and of course the new part is clean, so that's a no discussion. Here comes actually the most important part, use some Loctite 243 or some similar... how it's called... it's only... Yes it's glue, but I don't know how, there is a special name and I forgot it. You can apply plenty on it, too much it's only when it's like getting everything to dirty. To little is very problematic, so you can be generous here with applying this Loctite on it. Also when you take this footplate off, it's very good to check here if it's all perfect still, because the Alpha Series is really built for the lowest weight which is possible, so every component it's built until the limits and here could come some cracks. If you are a bit of heavy driver or you drive a lot in the winter and a lot of salt comes on it... it's anodized but it can still crack and if there are small cracks, the salt can go in these cracks and that's not great. So what you do is don't go like this turning, but go like... turn this on, go there.
