Some wonder whether you can also be mobile in the city with the Bülk velomobile. In terms of its genes, the Bülk is more of a racing and record-breaking velomobile designed for maximum speed.

 

The answer is clear: Even in the city, the Bülk MK1 is very mobile!

 

After the Second World War, almost all cities that were destroyed were rebuilt to be car-friendly and not human-friendly. Everything has been optimized with regard to moving and stationary car traffic, unfortunately contrary to the needs of the people who live there.

 

Incredible sums of money have flowed into the city's transport infrastructure and mobility by car has been perfected. The expansion of cycle paths, on the other hand, was neglected for a long time and this is still the case in most cities today.

 

We have many Bülk customers who drive their Bülk MK1 from the country to the city to work or even within the city. Your experiences are as follows:

 

With the Bülk trimmed for driving efficiency, you can swim well in city traffic, since the average speed here is rarely over 30 km/h. This means you can progress on the outer and inner rings just as fast as the cars. You won't be able to achieve that with normal bicycles on cycle paths in the city.

 

Nevertheless, you are also allowed to ride a velomobile on cycle paths, which increases the mobility advantage here even further, since cars do not have this option. Today there are more and more new, wide cycle paths or cycle passages in the city that are car-free and also suitable for velomobiles.

The result is: In the city, a fast velomobile has strategic advantages both over normal cyclists and over car traffic.

 

However, it makes no sense to ride a velomobile on narrow and frequently interrupted cycle paths in the city. Here the danger of a collision with other cyclists is too big. Here you are also often given the right of way by motorists and it will not go well without a collision for long.

 

And what about the city centers?

 

As part of the mobility turnaround, many cities have banned car traffic from their inner cities, and of course that plays into the hands of velomobiles. As a velomobile driver you have all the rights of cyclists and can fully exploit your potential in the car-free zone. Fantastic mobility opens up here: no restrictions, no parking problems, no traffic jams.

 

 

Conclusion

 

With the Bülk you can get around town just as quickly as by car. Unlike normal cyclists, you benefit from the highly developed car infrastructure, but you can also use suitable cycle paths and thus have more rights than car drivers.

 

In car-free city centers, it is great fun to explore the place or cover distances without a car.
