HOW TO TAKE YOUR MEASUREMENTS
Want to know if your dream velomobile is the right fit for you? With years of experience, we can help you determine whether it’s the perfect match or if another model might suit you better. To provide the best advice, we need a few measurements from you. In this article, we explain step by step how to take them correctly.
Body length (cm)

To measure your body length, you’ll need a book with a right-angle edge, a measuring tape, a wall, and be sure to remove your shoes. First, take the book and stand straight without shoes. Hold the book against your head, making sure it’s level, and then turn around. Mark the spot on the wall either with your finger or a pen/pencil. Then, measure the distance from the floor to the mark. For accuracy, repeat the measurement at least twice—if both measurements match, you can be confident it’s correct. If there’s any difference, measure a third time. Always report the measurement in centimeters. Alternatively, you can stand with your back straight against a wall, have someone hold the book above your head, and measure the distance from the floor to the book.
Inseam (cm)

To measure your inseam, you’ll need a book, a measuring tape, and a wall. Start by removing your shoes. Hold the book and slide it up to the wall, pressing it until it’s slightly uncomfortable. Mark the spot where the book reaches (you can use a pinstripe or pencil). Alternatively, you can place your finger at the point and gently leave a mark. Then, measure the distance from the floor to the mark. This is your inseam measurement, which is the length from the floor to the upper thigh. For example, Jan’s measures 82 centimeters.
X-Seam (cm)

To measure your X-Seam, you’ll need something like a plank (I’m using a simple one), which should be inclined and leaning against the wall. Place the plank about 40 centimeters away from the wall. Sit down, making sure the plank doesn’t move—hold it with your hands if it’s slippery. Then, push the box forward until your feet block it and your knees are fully on the ground. Stand up and measure the distance from the edge of the plank to the point where the box is blocked. This is your X-Seam measurement.
Shoulder Width (cm)

To take this measurement, you will need a wall, a book, a measuring tape, and an assistant. Stand with one shoulder against the wall. The assistant will place the book on your opposite shoulder and measure the distance between your shoulders. This is the required measurement.
Shoulder & Head Height (cm)

Horizontal distance from the leg measured from the outside (cm)

This is an important measurement because some people pedal with their legs or knees closer together, while others pedal with their legs further apart. It’s crucial to understand how much space you have inside the velomobile while cycling. The dimensions we provide are approximate.
When taking this measurement, try to cycle naturally and measure as shown in the video.
