Seat install
The seat installation is a crucial process that affects both comfort and handling of your DF/DFXL velomobile. Different seat types are available to accommodate various rider sizes and preferences, with each design optimizing the balance between comfort and performance.
When installing a seat, begin by placing spacers (approximately 3-4mm thick) at the seat’s lowest contact points with the body. Once positioned, secure the seat temporarily with tape to prevent movement during the marking process. The installation requires precise drilling: start with a 6mm pilot hole through both the seat and body, then enlarge to 9mm and carefully ream to 9.5mm for proper bolt fitment.
The mounting system uses two M6 bolts, with the left-side bolt requiring modification – grinding at an angle to ensure proper engagement. Protective tape should be applied to the mounting areas to prevent finish damage during installation. The mounting hardware includes bushings and washers, with specific placement requirements for proper security.
