Sébastien Dussac
Hello velonauts, my name is Sébastien DUSSAC, and I am a velomobile ambassador living in Haute-Savoie, France, at the foot of Mont Blanc, close to Geneva, Switzerland and Lake Geneva, as well as Italy, more specifically the Val d’Aoste. I’m a mountain guide and ski instructor in some of the world’s most beautiful mountains. I’ve already converted two of my best friends to the velomobile, so I can share my experience with you and possibly let you try out my machine.
Let me know how I can help you discover a fantastic alternative to a car that’s much faster and more comfortable than a bicycle! Let’s schedule a chat and maybe even a test drive!

About me
I started traveling by bike ten years ago, when my daughter was born. It was the best way to be outdoors and travel as a family with a young child.
Unfortunately (or not), I had neck pain a few years ago, so I naturally turned to the obvious solution in this kind of situation, the recumbent bike. I found a Street Machine from HP Velotechnik, the benchmark bike for long-distance travel. And right away, it was a great pleasure, as I crossed France several times and loved the advantages of the recumbent position.
In the course of my research, I discovered these strange machines known as velomobiles, a world still totally unknown to me.
Like most of us, I spent hours on the internet watching videos, looking for opinions on forums and started dreaming…
But it’s true that the price can be a deterrent even if the desire is strong. I kept on dreaming, looking at others, until one day I came across an ad for a used Milan GT for sale just down the road from my parents’ home in south-west France. This was the machine that appealed most to me, with its proven efficiency and characteristic humps that I love.
It was the start of a total (r)evolution for me!
It’s true that it takes some time to get used to the position and the sensations, which are so different. Generally speaking, we’re talking about 1000 km or so. But when you find yourself cruising along at over 40 km/h effortlessly, and you leave your first cyclists with honed calves and shaved legs, it’s impossible to get your butt back on a bike seat. At least on terrain that’s not too steep.
And for travelling, it’s an EXTRAORDINARY machine.
Following a silly bet, I covered the 800 km that separate me from my parents’ house in two (long) days. The next day, my legs weren’t even sore! After that, you look at the road map differently, and you’re soon planning long-distance trips. I’ve since made several trips, including a 2000 km crossing of France with one of my best friends, a video of which you’ll find on my YouTube channel.
For more ambitious projects, I’ve opted for a brand new Bülk, which is the best current compromise for me.
To be continued…
Bülk MK1 Velomobile
After Eggert Bülk and Jens Buckbesch started the Milan project in 2005 (which is still running successfully today), they started a new velomobile project in 2021, the Bülk-MK1. It implements a new space utilization and aerodynamic concept. The findings from various wind tunnel tests were also taken into account. Jens documented every step of the Bülk-MK1 project, then he sent us very detailed info to create a page where you can discover the philosophy of the Bülk-MK1.
What is a velomobile
A velomobile is a human-powered vehicle related to the bicycle, for everyday use, with a body/shell that provides comfort, weather protection and luggage space. Due to the aerodynamically shaped bodywork, you can achieve a decent speed with little effort (30-50 km/h on flat road). Velomobiles are very suitable as commuter vehicles, for shopping or holidays, also are a good way to clear your mind while taking a tour or a road trip with your friends.
