I have been riding velomobiles since January 1st, 2013. I am a brevet rider and have thoroughly enjoyed bringing awareness of velomobiles to this sport. At 68 years old I am no spring chicken yet over time I have built up my fitness and speed enough to get really fast while riding brevets, setting many course records and FKTs. One of things that I really enjoy about riding a velomobile is the ability to train during inclement weather; this leads to far greater consistency during the “off” season and subsequent deep fitness during my event season which runs from March through October. Another thing that doesn’t get talked about much is the inherent safety of velomobiles; I have been hit several times by vehicles and every time escaped with injuries that would have been vastly more severe (or lethal) had I been aboard an upright bicycle. The shell of a velomobile absorbs a tremendous beating in service to its rider. I am excited to be an ambassador for Velomobile World and the Bülk.

After Eggert Bülk and Jens Buckbesch started the Milan project in 2005 (which is still running successfully today), they started a new velomobile project in 2021, the Bülk-MK1. It implements a new space utilization and aerodynamic concept. The findings from various wind tunnel tests were also taken into account. A velomobile is a human-powered vehicle related to the bicycle, for everyday use, with a body/shell that provides comfort, weather protection and luggage space.
