Massimo Pavan – Northern Italy
Contact & More Adventures
My name is Massimo Pavan, and I have been riding recumbent vehicles since 2005. Over the years, this passion has developed into a continuous journey in the world of efficient human-powered mobility.
I live in the province of Varese, in the foothills of the Italian Prealps, in the heart of the area known as the “Land of the Seven Lakes.” This diverse landscape of flat roads, rolling hills, and demanding climbs has become my natural testing ground.
The Beginning
My journey began with recumbent bicycles and gradually evolved through hands-on experience, design, and self-building projects. In 2012, I built my first recumbent trike, and in 2014, together with a group of friends, I completed my first velomobile, the T-REX. The entire project was documented through a dedicated photographic work that captured every stage of its development.
How the passion for Velomobiles evolved
Since 2018, I have been riding a carbon-fiber Zephyrus on a daily basis, covering approximately 5,000 kilometers each year on urban roads, hilly terrain, and mountain routes, regularly tackling significant elevation gains.
Over time, the velomobile has become much more than a means of transportation for me; it represents a practical and rewarding way to experience mobility that is direct, efficient, and genuinely human.
Alongside daily riding, I have always enjoyed sharing this experience with curious newcomers and fellow enthusiasts. Informal meetings, test rides, and technical discussions have enriched my journey just as much as the engineering aspects themselves.
A number of interviews published in local newspapers have also helped introduce the concept of velomobility to a wider audience.
Becoming Velomobile World's Ambassador
Today, I serve as a Brand Ambassador for Velomobile World, helping promote velomobile culture through real-world use, technical exchange, and the direct sharing of on-road experience.
I believe in a form of mobility that is both sustainable and deeply human, where the relationship between rider and vehicle remains intuitive, immediate, and natural.
If you are interested in learning more about velomobiles, I would be happy to share my experience
and, where possible, arrange a test ride by appointment.
