Day 33 | Sildpollnes - Andenes | 173 KM | 705 HM

Relatively early start at 08:30 h. After a few kilometres our turnoff to Fiskebøl, while the E10 to Narvik continues straight ahead. Arrived, we had to wait 1.5 h for the ferry. A bit boring in the waiting room. Then onto the ferry to Melbu. 25 minutes crossing. The weather was supposed to get better. In the cabin of the ferry it doesn't look like it. Delicious waffle with Norwegian caramel cheese and two coffees. That makes the world feel better. With the ferry to Melbu we left Lofoten and arrived in Vesterålen. The roads are flatter here and the mountains are similar to those in Scotland. The driving is very fast here because there are only short, flat climbs from time to time. We take many waves in our stride.

In Sortland we shop opposite the coastguard station. Two young female soldiers fully armed with machine guns inspect the velomobiles across the road.

We spent the lunch break at the Kiwi with Mike from Bayreuth. He is already on his way back from the North Cape with his steel racer.

Apart from that, we crossed quite a few bridges. In the meantime we have lost count.

A little later we caught up with David from Munich on a slight incline. Today was cyclists' catch-up day and we passed a few. Then we just had to roll a bit until we reached the camping site of Andenes after 173 km. So we can catch the ferry at 08:30 tomorrow morning.
