Day 41 | Lakselv - Karigasniemi / Finland | 98 KM | 756 HM
A nice dry night with an especially beautiful coloured sky. Biggi had taken some nice photos during the night. In the morning everything was dry. Last night we had dinner with a German cyclist. She had cycled part of the same route. So we had a lot to talk about. Like us, they had some strange encounters with the bike packers. Some of them tear off their kilometres, don't talk to anyone, eat directly at the supermarket because they don't have a cooker and above all want to get to the cape quickly.
First it was supposed to stay dry and later a rain area was waiting for us in the border area. The first 35 km rolled pretty well. Then a moderate climb to about 300 m above sea level.
At first I thought the police were going to check us in Norway. They came towards us and then turned around. Then they stayed a little behind us until visibility cleared and they overtook. Behind Lakselv was a restricted military area and they were apparently on patrol. Later they passed us twice again. Absolutely no photography on the right and left.
Much too late I had registered this strange object. A tin hut on skids with a chimney and a petrol can at the front. A mobile hut for the winter. After 75 km, the first town with shopping facilities and a warm petrol station. Karasjok.
The French motorcyclists at the petrol station immediately took my Alpha to their hearts.
Now we could start the Finnish course. Please try to pronounce it.
After crossing the border, we found a cosy cabin for the day. The price level is different here.
Only 98 km today. Rain makes you so tired.
