Mirror Install
Mirror installation guide
Proper mirror installation ensures optimal visibility and safety during rides. The installation process requires careful consideration of several factors including mounting location, riding style, and equipment configuration.
Installation Location Considerations
The choice of mirror mounting location depends on your riding setup. For riders who primarily use the combi lid without a hood, mounting on the lids provides clear entry and exit space. When mounting on the velomobile body, consider clearance for hood operation and foot movement during entry. Bishop Miller mirrors are recommended for body mounting due to their larger size, while Zefal mirrors may appear too small when mounted on the body.
Position Testing Process
Before permanent installation, determine the optimal mirror position through these steps: Use double-sided tape to temporarily mount the mirror. Test the position from the riding position to ensure proper visibility. Consider how close you want the mirror to your viewing position and whether you prefer a direct or peripheral view. Check the interior side of the mounting location for potential interference with cables or other components, particularly important for body mounting.
Installation Procedure
The permanent installation process requires precise measurement and careful drilling. Mark the mirror’s exterior position using paper tape. Create reference measurements from the center point. Begin drilling with a 3mm pilot hole, then expand to the final size (5-6mm). Ensure clean edges for proper mirror mounting.
Safety Considerations
When selecting mirror position, consider: Entry and exit clearance to prevent accidental contact. Hood and lid operation space requirements. Visibility requirements for different riding positions. Interference with other components or accessories.
